As part of its efforts to bolster technological and economic progress, the Philippines has established science high schools, which are secondary level education institutions that offer advanced courses in science, engineering, and mathematics. Apart from the said subjects, these schools are also known for excelling in academic English. Despite their success in this aspect, there has been a dearth of studies demonstrating how English programs of Philippine science high schools contribute in attaining certain achievements. The surge of fake news genres on social media platforms is an ongoing problem. In the Philippines, fake news commonly prevails during relevant political events. Therefore, fact-checking and critical media and news literacies are vital in combating disinformation. This study analyzed 134 fake news articles about two leading presidential candidates during the 2022 Philippine presidential campaign and election period. The study used qualitative research, descriptive coding, and content analysis grounded in interpersonal deception theory and logical fallacy detection. This paper examined the codeswitching (CS) practices of Filipino students in a basic-level Spanish class for immigrants in Barcelona using a translanguaging lens. Translanguaging encourages bilinguals and multilinguals to use their entire linguistic repertoire in meaning-making and communication.
